If there was ever a good reason to spend and buy things you probably really don’t need but can’t live without, this is it. From Saturday April 2nd to Sunday April 10th 2011, thousands of Second Life residents and creators are coming together to support the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world without cancer with a nine sim Fantasy Faire. Since its inception in 2005, the RFL (Relay For Life) of SL has grown in both attendance and fund raising. With almost $275,000 USD raised last year RFL of SL has become the largest fundraising event in the virtual world. The stunning fantasy environments and surrounds have been created by some of SLs top builders including the wonderful Elicio Ember (Cerridwen’s Caldron) and Mayah Parx (Epic Toy Factory).
After making several trips to the Fantasy Faire by myself, with my sisters in law (Jill and Athena <3), taking my nieces and nephew I have to say its a shame this event only lasts a week. Also, being that I got lazy and blogged about this the day before the faire ends, time is of the essence and so if I had to suggest only two sims for a person to visit it would be:
Exotic Worlds (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Exotic%20Worlds/129/192/23)
Fantastical and Magical (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Fantastical%20and%20Magical/65/127/23).
Why? Because the builds and landscaping were done by Mayah Parx and Elicio Ember. If you are slightly a fan of fantasy in SL, you already know who these two people are and are aware of how amazing their work is.
On a side note, sorta, go buy Mayah Parx’s build at the Fantastical and Magical Sim because if you don’t you’ll regret it. I stocked up on things from there and have no regrets and plus its benefiting the battle against cancer, so no guilt. YAY! guilt free shopping.
